WILKENS PHYSICAL THERAPY STAFF

K.J. Wilkens, Owner and DPT

K.J. grew up in Dighton, Kansas, playing and loving sports. In middle school while playing basketball, K.J. got kicked in the leg and lost muscle control on the outside of his leg from the knee down. Doing P.T. after the injury, in which doctors weren’t sure if he’d recover muscle function because of a damaged nerve, created an interest in physical therapy as a career (and luckily, with therapy, his leg made a full recovery).

Best part of the job? “Helping people in our community. Seeing a person go from not being able to do something to being able to do it— especially daily stuff. The other day, someone told me they were able to get down on the floor to get something and get back up again, which previously wouldn’t have been possible. I also really enjoy working with athletes, watching them go from rehabbing an injury to being able to participate, play and be successful again is pretty fun. I just enjoy helping people get back to their normal life and get out of pain.”

K.J. played four years of college basketball: two years at Colby Community College and two years at Southwestern College. He earned his DPT from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri. His professional career includes 3 years at Emporia Physical Therapy, 3 years at Scott Co. Hospital and 6 years and counting at Wilkens P.T. He holds certifications in Dry Needling and ASTYM.

Warren Kropp, DPT, VRT

Warren is originally from Scott City, where he wrestled and played football. A shoulder surgery in high school and the subsequent rehab sparked his interest in P.T. Warren did his undergraduate degree at Ft. Hays State University and his doctorate at Rockhurst in Kansas City. Warren has been a physical therapist with Wilkens PT since 2022.

Best part of the job? “It’s rewarding to see athletes able to compete again. Helping people get through surgery is great. Probably the biggest thing is when it “clicks” for a person…they may not be completely better, bu they see the light at the end of the tunnel. Just getting people back to what they want to do is a great feeling.”

Biggest challenge? “Everyone is different. Trying to figure out what clicks for each person is the challenge — nobody is textbook…no one! There are also a lot of lifestyle factors that can contribute to a person’s success or struggles when it comes to therapy, including diet, sleep or lack thereof, stress or a tough work schedule.”

Becky Turner, Office Admin

My name is Becky Turner, and I’m proud to serve as Office Administrator for Wilkens PT. This includes inputting insurance for patients, setting the schedules, doing laundry, and keeping the boys in line!

I’ve had the privilege of working with K.J. since 2019 and with Warren since 2022. They are a fantastic group of guys, and there is never a dull moment in our office.

I’m a native of Scott City, where I was born and raised. I have been happily married to Jeff Turner for nearly 34 years. We have two wonderful sons, Lane and Cody. Lane and his significant other have blessed us with two beautiful granddaughters, bringing immense joy to our family.

Working at Wilkens PT has been a rewarding experience, and I look forward to many more years with our amazing team.
